Women and Family Health; Bringing Health and Wellness Closer to Communities in West Pokot
Access to healthcare remains a significant challenge for the people of West Pokot, with many community members forced to walk 10 to 15 kilometers—often taking over two hours—to reach the nearest health facility. To address this pressing issue, we have established Health and Wellness Camps that bring essential healthcare services closer to the community. These camps provide a range of services, including medical consultations, screenings, immunizations, maternal and child health care, and wellness education. By setting up these camps within reach of the community, we aim to reduce the distance and time barriers, ensuring that more people can access timely and quality healthcare.
In addition to addressing immediate health needs, these camps also promote preventive care by educating community members about hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention. They serve as a vital platform for raising awareness and building healthier lifestyles, particularly in remote areas where healthcare resources are scarce. Our Health and Wellness Camps are more than just temporary solutions—they are a step toward creating healthier, more resilient communities in West Pokot.
